A kinship carer is someone who looks after the child or children of relatives, when the child’s natural parents are unable to do so. This may be an aunt, uncle, grandparent or a family friend. Kinship care can be a complex subject and can arise from complicated situations, so it’s important to know you’re supported both emotionally and practically.
From 1st September 2020, the Kinship Care Advice Service for Scotland (KCASS) is being led by Adoption UK Scotland (AUKS) and AFA Scotland (AFAS). The attached FAQ sets out the details. The new service uses the previous CAS helpline number of 0808 800 0006 which transferred over to AUKS on 1st September 2020. AUKS will also respond to email enquiries sent to email@example.com.
