Women’s Aid Project

Citizens Advice Bureau West Lothian received funding from the Scottish legal Aid Board to work in close partnership with West Lothian Women’s Aid to provide a tailored money advice service to individuals, both male and female, who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse. Alex Russell was appointed as the project’s Money Advice Worker in December 2013.

Ultimately, we recognise that those who have experienced domestic abuse or are currently experiencing domestic abuse could benefit greatly from a unique advice service to allow them to gain financial stability and control, where life has been unstable and chaotic.

What assistance can we offer?

We can offer specialised advice and assistance on:

  • Benefit issues
  • Money management/budgeting
  • Debt
  • Housing Issues
  • Family and legal issues
  • Advocacy

To access the project you can contact the bureau on 01506 436132 or contact Women’s Aid on 01506 461938.

Legal Clinics

The bureau offers a general legal clinic fortnightly. These clinics are held at the bureau every second Tuesday.

We also hold an employments legal clinic on the second and fourth Tuesdays on each month.

For a referral to either of these clinics, clients must first see a generalist adviser who will refer to one of the legal clinics if appropriate.
